How do I even begin to describe Stevie & Ryan’s Ireland elopement? When I got asked to shoot their intimate Celtic ceremony on the Aran Islands, I knew I was in for a treat, but the day far surpassed my expectations.
Stevie & Ryan flew in to Ireland from Kansas, US for a unique wedding experience with a few of their dear family members. The whole day was so incredibly relaxed and filled with emotion.
The wedding took place on Inis Mór, the largest of the islands. Kenny and I took the ferry over in the morning and stayed for the night. I met up with them at Seacrest B&B for a first look and a few photos around the island before the ceremony. There are so many breath-taking locations on the island, even a spell of light misty rain couldn’t prevent us from capturing stunning portraits. The guys then hopped on a horse & trap and headed to their ceremony at Teampall Chiaráin with Celtic Priest Dara Molloy. It was such a profound spiritual experience.
When the ceremony was over we went for some family photos on the beach, where Stevie decided to do a cartwheel in her dress! I thought it was possibly the coolest thing I’ve seen the bride do, until she downed a pint of Guinness on a dare from a group of excited kids outside the Aran Hotel. The evening was topped off with a casual dinner with some of the best local food in splendid company. As if to make the day even more magical, we were graced by full moon at sunset. Truly one of my favourite weddings to date!
