Sarah & Shiloh contacted me all the way from Texas when they were planning their Ireland elopement on the Aran Islands. Going back to Inishmore, the biggest island out of the three is always a special treat. It’s like stepping into a preserved capsule of older Ireland, where everything is simpler and everyone knows their neighbour.
Dara Molloy, the Celtic Priest that lives there, performs the most soulful ceremonies (at an ancient temple on top of a hill) that always leave me spiritually elevated and emotionally raw. Did I mention the landscape views are out of this world? You usually have docile cows and raindrops for extra company.
Sarah is a horticuluralist and a very sweet natured human being. I wept a little when she was getting into her dress in the morning and I saw her amazing tattoos – angel wings and flowers juxtaposed against the natural backdrops were something else. She also did her own flowers in the morning!
Both she and Shiloh were completely going with the flow of the day in the most relaxed, loving manner possible. When the rain made itself present, they moved the ceremony by 2 hours without an ounce of stress. In the morning, Kenny and I also witnessed one of the most moving first looks ever.
It really is a blessing when weddings not only celebrate a bond between two souls but also connect you back to the land, your loved ones and new friends!
“When my arms wrap you round I press. My heart upon the loveliness. That has long faded from the world.”
W.B. Yeats
